Course Objectives:

• How to set the brickwork out (tracing the bond )

• Consistency of mortar mix

• Building to gauge, plumb, level

• Running into a line

• Pointing of brickwork

• Building brick and block corners

• Closing of cavity for window/door openings

• Laying of DPC

• Health & Safety matters, including safe use of tool

Course objectives:

• Cutting plasterboard to size correctly.

• How to fix plasterboard by direct bonding ‘Dot & Dab’ fixing to studded walls, internal and external angles to windows/door returns.

• Using dry lining tape for all applications.

• How to apply the finish coat to give a flat, smooth surface.

• Fixing stop beads, drip beads and angle beads to external corners.

• Health & Safety matters, including safe use of tools.

Our Courses run Mon- Thursday 9.00-4.00pm and Fri 9.00-12.00pm

Course objectives:

• Measure and cut copper tube.

• Fit and connect taps and waste fittings.

• Construct and fit waste system, bath and wash basin.

• Measure and fit bathroom suite.

• Cleansing and soldering copper tube.

• Fitting connections to soil system.

• Fitting WC including soil connectors.

• Compression fittings.

• Health & Safety matters, including safe use of tools.

Our Courses run Mon- Thursday 9.00-4.00pm and Fri 9.00-12.00pm

Course objectives:

• Different tools and materials.

• Basic Joinery joints for 2nd fixing.

• Build a stud wall.

• Build and fit a door casing.

• Skirting and architraves.

• Hanging doors.

• Fitting and replacing locks and ironmongery.

Our Courses run Mon- Thursday 9.00-4.00pm and Fri 9.00-12.00pm

Course Costs £600 + VAT

Course objectives:

• Estimating quantities and choosing the suitable adhesives and grouts needed for specific projects.

• Setting out the wall prior to tiling, fixing tile battens, priming and preparation of walls prior to tiling.

• Spreading adhesives and fixing and cutting tiles.

• Cutting tiles around sockets, windows and doors.

• Grouting of tiled area - how to get that professional finish.

• Getting good silicone seal to baths, sinks and work tops.

• Health & Safety matters, including safe use of tools

Course Objectives:

• To enable the learner to achieve their NVQ to enable them to apply for their 5 year tradesman card for their chosen trade.

• Learners need 5 years+ experience within their chosen trade

• Learners need to be able to provide witness testimonies from reputable sources to confirm their competence

• Learners will receive initial paperwork for completion by a credible witness and on receipt and verification by our Assessor, the Learner will then be given an assessment date, whereby they will attend the Centre and undertake their trade assessment which will include a discussion with our Assessor to gain further evidence towards your NVQ Portfolio.

EWPA Routes available at the moment are:-

Bricklayer, Plasterer, Joiner, Floor & Wall Tiler.

Courses are run at different times to suit learner and centre

Course Overview:

  • 1 Day course from 9 am to 4 pm at a cost of £145+vat per learner.
  • Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS), Safe Manual Handling, Working Safely at Height, Risk To Health, Working Safely around plant and equipment
  • On achievement of this course, you are able to undertake your CSCS touch Screen Test and apply for your relevant CSCS card.
  • For CITB registered companies there is a £30* grant per learner.

  • This is for learners that have over 3 years’ experience within their chosen trade, but don’t have the qualification/NVQ.
  • This process allows the learner to continue work on-site and an Assessor will visit them (usually over a 8-12 week period) gaining evidence via observations, discussions and witness testimony whilst the learner is carrying out their day to day tasks.
  • On successful completion of this course the learner will be issued with their NVQ allowing them to apply for the Trade CSCS card (Blue).

SUB-FLOOR PREPARATION COURSE - 1 DAY

Importance of sound subfloors before installation.

Subfloor preparation to include DPM’s, primers, membranes, smoothing compounds.

Correct material selection for floors.

Moisture testing and equipment.

 

CAP & COVE (Sheet Vinyl) COURSE - 2 DAYS

Importance of sound subfloors before installation.

Tools, equipment and PPE required.

Commercial Sheet vinyls and their limitations.

Adhesives and finishing profiles.

Set out for sheet vinyl and cap and cove using cutting and scribing techniques.

Use of heat guns for weld.

 

BASIC LVT FLOORING - 3 DAYS

£700+vat

Importance of sound subfloors before installation.

Subfloor options to include underlays, DPM’s, Primers, smoothing compounds, ply finish

Tools, equipment and PPE required.

LVT products and limitations.

Acclimatisation of materials.

Setting out to include patterns

Overview of scribing, back marking and templating.

Laying LVT to area.
